I would have got on to this earlier if it wasn't for my internet going down, but a person who used to tweet using the name Diet Queen has bragged about how she could sanction people just because they didn't turn up. The exact words used are "In my new job if people don't turn up to an appointment with me, I stop their benefit for 13 weeks...suckers"
This was posted after another tweet asking "Point out one thing people who choose to live on benefits contribute to society?" This was posted by someone using the name The Devil's Baguette, and he has closed his Twiter account along with Diet Queen who also had another account The queen of Bling. Diet Queen whose real name is kelly-Jane Stone also closed her facebook page and Linked-in page.
Kelly-Jane Stone was employed by transline, a subcontractor of the work program and was sending people to Amazon to work with ZERO hour contracts, which means that one week a person could do 40 hours then nothing for the next week or longer and it is also rumoured that Amazon get rid of people after 3 months. Another downside of ZERO hour contracts is that the DWP average out your working hours for any other benefits that you could be entitled to, for example someone who is told they would get working tax credits would lose out unless they could average 30 hours per week. Another point is that the DWP will not sanction anyone who turns down applying for a zero hours job.
IMO any sanction done by DWP & Kelly-Jane Stone sending people to Amazon is illegal and the person should be entitled to all the benefits back as well as all other sanctions imposed on people for not applying for zero hour contracts.
Another Tweeter who started the topic goes by the name of The Devil's Baguette has also closed their Twiter account, he said he would do the job for free.
